About Wendy Ramirez

Wendy began her journey in mounted search and rescue (MSAR) in January 2022 as a member of the Queen Creek Mounted Sheriff's Posse. Since joining, she held multiple roles within the organization, including Social Media Administrator, Web Administrator, Vice Commander and Commander. She now proudly serves as Commander for Regional Arizona Mounted Search and Rescue.

With years of progressive horseback riding experience and seven years as a horse owner, Wendy brings both passion and expertise to the field. Her current search partner, Bean—a 21-year-old Paint gelding—has accompanied her on multiple missions and thrives on trail work and wilderness terrain. She is also training two additional horses, Rango and Bandit, both Appendix geldings, who share her love for the trail and are progressing steadily through SAR training.

She is currently working towards her National Association of Search and Rescue SARTECH II and Amatuer Radio (HAM) certifications.  She has also completed advanced coursework in tracking (Tracker III and II), crime scene preservation, land navigation, GPS, communicable disease prevention, compass skills, and effective leadership. She regularly participates in FEMA and NASAR trainings to stay current and continually grow as both a responder and a leader.

Beyond SAR, Wendy lives on a small ranch in San Tan Valley with her husband of 27 years, Michael. Together, they have three wonderful grown children and are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their twin grandbabies towards the end of the year. Her home is shared with four horses, five dogs, three goats, and two barn cats—each one a beloved part of the family.

Wendy’s dedication to service, love of animals, and deep family roots make her a respected leader in the SAR community and an inspiring example of commitment and compassion.
